Many organizations are turning from advertising to cost-effective public affairs campaigns and public relations strategies to deliver credible messages to audiences.

Environment and Natural Resources

Cheryl Rubin used her knowledge of the media, public policy and regulatory issues to create a comprehensive campaign about sustainable forestry, responsible management of natural resources, wood and energy production, green building, and using forests to affect climate change.

The program she directed for the California Forest Products Commission generated extensive media coverage, and positioned forestry and the forest products industry as central to addressing critical environmental concerns.

On behalf of The Forest Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit non-partisan organization, Rubin developed strategies and programs that presented educational messages to millions of Californians and Sacramento and Washington, DC policy makers.

Under Rubin’s direction, the Foundation integrated science-based communications with targeted marketing initiatives. The program made scientific experts, reports, and data available to key decision makers, local, regional, and national media and the public.

Shaping Public Policy

Cheryl Rubin played an instrumental role in making The Heritage Foundation one of the nation’s leading public policy research institutes, the think tank most quoted by the media. She interacted with influential print and broadcast journalists, opinion writers and commentators in Washington, DC and nationally, and directed a multi-faceted program.

Rubin helped implement a Silver Anvil award-winning program for the American Bankers Association that successfully targeted policy makers, the media, consumers, and the business community in a grass roots campaign that repealed a federal tax law and helped usher in a new era of deregulation.

Corporate Positioning and Selling Products

For a top Madison Avenue public relations firm, Rubin handled corporate communications programs for major clients aimed at the investment community, and also executed targeted business-to-business and consumer product marketing strategies.

The issues-oriented and research program she directed for Honeywell, Inc. received the Public Relations Society of America’s Silver Anvil Award, its highest honor. The program gained visibility in such industries as energy, telecommunications, office automation, and manufacturing.
